    The first time I saw this movie, I thought it was "KICK ASS, DUDE!"  But now that I've seen it again, my opinion has changed.  The six checks are for the first hour, after that it just turns into a bland action movie.

    Eric Draven gets killed, along with his fiancé.  He comes back from the dead to avenge he and his better half's murders, with special powers given to him by the magical crow.  He kills the guys that killed he and his woman.  Then he goes on to save the little girl that has been kidnapped by the head baddass.  Why?   Because the head baddass wants to kill Eric. 

    The first hour is cool.  It's just the main guy, Brandon Lee, killing those who have trespassed against he.  He comes up with weird, imaginable and to say the least, entertaining ways of killing those bastards.  That should have been the whole movie, but alas, it is not.  Then, the head baddass gets pissed because all of his guys are dead, so he kidnaps a little girly friend of Eric's, and Eric has to go save her.  From then on, and even a little before, the movie is just dull.  It just fits the usual stereotype of boring action movies.  It was good when he was killing people, because as we all know, violence is cool.  But then it just sucks.

    Another thing about the script, is there are awkward moments that are supposed to be touching and sincere, but just turn out to be misplaced and cheesy.   The little girl is supposed to be relatable by the audience, but she isn't.   She's just a little girl that we have no real reason to care about.  I don't even understand why she has to be in the movie.  This movie could have been so much better if they would have canned the little girl, and made the whole movie consist of Brandon Lee, kicking ass and taking names.  I'm telling you, violence is cool.

    So, the movie gets a sixty because of the first hour.  The rest sucks.  And another thing, the sequel City of Angels is complete garbage.   Don't rent it!  It's two hours of complete bullshit.  Rent The Crow, not the sequel, this is imperative!  I can't tell you how much I hated the sequel, so much that I won't even review it, because it's a waste of the dollar and a half to rent.   DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THE SEQUEL, but rent the original, it's worth it.   All right?
