Freedom's Song
James Horner has been hired to score the film FREEDOM'S SONG directed by Phil Alden Robinson (Sneakers, Field Of Dreams). The airing date of this film is February 2000. If you noticed, I said airing date which means this is a TV movie. It is being made by TNT Movie Studios and will air on the cable network of the same name. Horner hasn't worked on TV movie since the early Eighties so this is a rarity. The movie is based on a novel of the same name, unfortunately I don't know the author and there are many books with same name and dealing with same subject. I know the story takes place in the 1960's and revolves around the Civil Rights movement. This is a pet project for Phil Alden Robinson and he could not find a major studio that would take the film. He decided that he was going to make the film, even if it has to be a TV movie. Robinson has had a great deal of problems with getting his films made. In 1997, he had a project with Universal Studios name Age Of Aquarius starring Harrison Ford and Kristen Scott Thomas that was shelved and eventually terminated after budget problems. This will be his first film since Sneakers in 1992.
