The Perfect Storm

James Horner has signed on to do the score for Wolfgang Peterson's new film The Perfect Storm. This film will be released in spring or early summer of 2000. It is based on a true story of a storm that hit Cape Cod in 1991.  In 1997 it was turned into a book of the same name written by Sebastian Junger. It stars  George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg. They will portray sailors on the fishing boat the Andrea Gail, which was lost at sea during this terrible storm. The book was a #1 bestseller in the New York Times. Many television stations have featured stories on this ship such as; The History Channel, A & E, and The Learning Channel. The paragraph below is from the back cover of the novel:

October 1991. It was "The Perfect Storm"- a tempest that may happen only once in a century- a nor'easter created by so rare a combination of factors that it could not possibly have been worse. Creating waves ten stories high and wind s of 120 miles an hour, the storm whipped the sea to in conceivable levels few people on Earth have ever witnessed. Few, except the six man crew of the Andrea Gail, a commercial fishing boat tragically headed toward it's hellish center.
