APT PUPIL
- *** Apt Pupil is a movie based on one of Stephen King's darkest and most disturbing novellas. A really good thing about the movie is it's like Misery in the way that it seems like a cross between bad adaptions of his horror novels, and movies like The Shawshank Redemption and Dolores Claiborne.
A straight-A student who is quite interested in the holocaust spots a Nazi War Criminal living in his neighborhood. The boy confronts the man, forcing him to tell all the horrors of the war in exchange for his silence. As the boy continues visiting the man, his personality becomes more and more affected.
The movie is a suspenseful pyschological thriller, and it follows Stephen King's story pretty accurately. It does have a different ending that makes use of its title. Some of the violence of the story was lacking, but the tension of the cat-and-mouse game is as strong as on the pages. This movie doesn't let you breathe, not for a second. Try not to dig your nails into your palms.
