THE FOLLOWING ARE SOME MY PICS AS SOME OF THE BEST MOVIES OF, BASICALLY, 1999. I'm reluctant to remove these reco's from my site, cause they are good movies. 1999 was a good year for movies (unlike 2000), and these are only a few.

Jeff's Pick for the Best Recent Releases on Video/DVD
By Jeff Derrickson

1. American Beauty -- Lester Burnham is turning away from everything for one last shot at his own American dream. In my opinion, one of the best movies of all time. A haunting and moving film experience. Only a few grumpy customers don't like this movie. A MUST-SEE!

2. Being John Malkovich -- A man finds a portal into the mind of actor John Malkovich, which dumps you on the side of the New Jersey Turnpike after 15 minutes. Very inventive and interesting plot.

3. Three Kings -- The Persian Gulf War is over. Three soldiers attempt going after Saddam's stolen gold, so they can return home rich. A unique action movie with heart.

4. The Green Mile -- Is the large death row prisoner John Coffey a savage killer, or is he something more? Adapted from Stephen King's six-part novel. I personally recommend the novel, but this is still a good (and very faithful to the original material) movie.

5. Limbo -- A movie written/directed/edited by John Sayles (Lone Star), about lost people between relationships or times in their lives. A single mother, her daughter, and a lonely ex-fisherman embark on a boating trip without a clue as to what will happen to them. A bold exercise in filmmaking, with an ending (like no other movie) that will irritate and fascinate for years to come. Definitely not for people who like things in nice, little, perfect packages. If you're a film buff, this movie is worth seeing.

These movies and more will be reviewed soon. more more more to come.......
