SUMMER 2001
These are the movies I plan to see this summer and why... I promise to add reviews to these picks, in case anyone actually still visits the site.
1. PEARL HARBOR -- Um, do I really need to give plot here? Thought not... go for amazing special effects, but don't expect a good story. If you saw "Armageddon," you know how the producers handle romance-plots, or anything not having to do with an explosion, an attack, etc.
2. PLANET OF THE APES -- A remake of a cult classic, realized by Tim Burton. Could be interesting, no?
3. JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK -- Nuff' said. Aug. 24. Be there.
4. BULLY -- One of the few indies I plan to see this summer (my brain needs a rest... I see a lot of little-known, independent films that just don't happen to be on this site. They probably should be, cause you all know the blockbusters... but I'm just lazy, and there is a lack of interest in the site). ON to the movie. Director Larry Clark ("Kids") takes on more controversy, telling the story of a group of teenagers who decide to kill a high school bully.... and that's only the beginning of the film. Based on a true story. This guy fears no controvery, but let's just hope he pulls it off tastefully.
A NOTE ON THIS SUMMER (2001): The future looks bright way back here in May... much better than last summer. Plenty of fun summer movies coming out, some of which will suck (ahem, Scary Movie 2). But they're all in good fun, and we are STARVING from the lack of anything even slightly decent from last summer. I can't even rent any new releases on video, because they are all from last year... :-( Any other movies I see in the theater this summer, I'll let you know what I think. But this is my "must-see" list for now. Check back, will ya? And go buy the Sopranos first season DVD! BADA BING!
