In 1993 four young cellists on their way to a musical camp
came up with the idea of playing their second favourite type of music,heavy metal,with their cellos.
They performed at different student-parties for their and,of course,for the other people's fun.
Voila,Apocalyptica!
In December 1995 they received an invitation to perform at a
heavy-metal evening in the heavy-club Teatro,in Helsinki.
One week later they got a proposal from ZenGarden to record an album.
They called it Apocalyptica plays Metallica on four cellos.
They're newest Album is called Inquisition Symphony.

Apocalyptica is concentrated on developing the techniques of
playing cellos towards more heavy direction, while using more
and more boldly special effects, expanding so the sound of cellos
in surprising ways.

Though the only thing i said to them was "Hi" and "yeah,I got it from the wall!"(weird story and i don't want you to think I'm a weirdo lol)

Later this year, Apocalyptica will be heard in the movie Your Friends And Neighbors (Propaganda Films) starring Jason Patric,Ben Stiller and Nastassja Kinski. Three songs from their debut album will be featured in the film, marking the first time Metallica have allowed their music to be used in a movie (albeit via Apocalyptica's interpretations).
