Robin
Soltini
Scorpio

Robin Soltini first appeared in Port Charles as an engaging little girl left on the doorstep of Robert Scorpio.  Soon, it was discovered that Robin was the daughter of Robert and Anna Devane, and had been raised by her grandmother, Filomena, in New York City.family

When Robin learned her true parentage, she ran away in confusion and shock.  Robin then found herself -- and a beloved doll that had two priceless black pearls for eyes -- in the midst of a dangerous mystery set in Port Charles' Asian Quarter.  Eventually, Robert and Anna brought their daughter home safe and sound.

Anna became involved with the charming and mysterious Duke Lavery, whom she eventually married.  Grandmother Filomena was killed by the deranged Grant Putman, beginning a pattern of love, loss, and grief that was to pervade Robin's life.  First Duke, and then Robert and Anna, were also killed.

During this time, Robert's brother Mac Scorpio came to live in Port Charles.  When Anna was kidnapped, Robert left Robin in Mac's care and went off to rescue her.  Unfortunately, Robert and Anna perished while attempting to escape.  Robin then grew up with Mac and Felicia Jones as foster parents, and was hugely disappointed when their relationship failed to result in marriage.

Robin started Port Charles High a few years behind Jason Quartermaine, Karen Wexler, and Brenda Barrett.  Robin developed her first crush on Jason, who only had eyes for Karen -- who loved Jagger Cates, who was involved with Brenda!  Robin and Brenda became close, and Robin was very worried when Brenda became attracted to mob boss Sonny Corinthos.

randsHowever, Robin soon met and fell in love with Stone Cates, Jagger's kid brother who worked for Sonny.  Uncle Mac fought long and hard to prevent their relationship, but the love between Robin and Stone was too strong to be thwarted.

Stone had led a rough life on the streets, involving drug use and unprotected sex, before he came to work for Sonny.  Having tested negative for HIV, however, he felt safe having sex with Robin without using a condom. Both were soon devastated to discover that Stone was HIV positive, having neglected to take the necessary six month retest, and had a virulent form of full-blown AIDS.

Robin -- who tested negative at the time -- chose not to attend Yale that year, needing to stay close to Stone. At the second annual Nurses' Ball (at which, the year before, Robin and Stone had performed a scene for Romeo and Juliet), Stone told a shocked Port Charles that he had AIDS. Mac was, at first, furious with Stone for having put Robin in danger.  Later, Mac came to admire Stone's courage, strength, and conviction in the face of adversity, and, after his death, built the patch that represented Stone's memory in the AIDS Quilt.

Stone, with Robin at his side, lived his remaining days to their fullest.  He went bungee jumping,rands2 walked on stilts, and spent a night on the roof of ELQ, under the stars.  At the end, he lost his sight and became bedridden, and went home to Sonny's penthouse to die.

Stone begged Robin to be tested one more time before he died and this time, unfortunately, Robin tested positive for HIV.  Stone was devastated, but faced both Robin's illness and his own death bravely. He died, looking at Robin one last miraculous time, with Sonny and his other loved ones nearby.  Stone's illness and death had pulled Robin and Sonny close, and they grew to care for each other deeply. Eventually, two of Stone's dearest friends, Sonny and Brenda, found their way back to each other, helped by his profound belief in their love.  His passing left a lasting effect on the entire Port Charles community.

In the days, weeks, and months following Stone's death, Robin struggled to live again, and to live with HIV.  An old friend, Jason Quartermaine, was critically injured in a car accident and remained unconscious in General Hospital.  Robin went to visit and, miraculously, Jason opened his eyes -- but it wasn't Jason Quartermaine who woke up in that hospital room....
