La asociación de escritores "The Manuscripters" le otorgó a María Montez un premio por su poesía "Crepúsculo" (Twilight), la cual fue publicada en la Revista Literaria Latinoamericana "Baho Rueo", en 1942.

Algunos de sus versos fueron publicados por el periódico Sunday Mirror el 3 de mayo de 1943.

Dicen que traducción es traición, por eso no traduje sus versos y los copié tal cual los leí en el artículo del Sunday Mirror.

A wild flower I have plucked from the beach

Fades on my hands as all beauty must;

So my love, in your tree-strong arms,

I feel you fading for all your trust.

Trust rather wind and strong-willed tide

That my self-sating desire for you,

O love, who comes like a dream to hide

Where dreams disolve in the morning dew.

The church is tall and old and calm

Of our lips and our restless embrances

Rises higher than earhtly desire. . .
