My name is Bridget Lampert, Joe's wife. On December 1st, 2002, Joe suffered a massive cerebral bleed in the left parietal lobe. He required an emergency open craniotomy to remove the blood. A tissue biopsy suggested abnormal brain cells. He spent close to one month in Pittsburgh going through inpatient rehabilitation. He was initially totally paralyzed on the right side and continues to suffer from severe aphasia, a paticular torment since his occupation has been that of a newspaper editor. Suspecting a brain tumor, his neurosurgeon ordered repeat MRIs. The one performed on February 22nd revealed a brain tumor the size of a peach. On March 17th, he undewent another craniotomy to debulk the tumor, 99% of which was removed. The biopsy revealed grade IV glioblastoma. Joe is currently undergoing IMRT and chemotherapy. He has faced this devastating illness with great courage. He is 50 years old and we are the proud parents of two wonderful college students who have been brave and loving supporters of their dad during his illness. It is my belief that Joe would not be with us today had it not been for the prayer support he has received from friends and family. We would ask that you add him to your list. His prognosis, according to the neurosurgeon, is poor due to the aggressive nature of his cancer. But I believe miracles happen. May our Lord's will be done and may we have accepting hearts as we travel the path we have been set upon. Thank you.
