Canada is, simply put, the greatest country in the world. We know this, and so do the United Nations, or else they wouldn't have voted us the best country in the world to live in. Canada is located in North America, right on top of the United States. It is the largest country in the Western Hemisphere, and the second largest country in the world (first being Russia, don't argue with me about this becuase, even though the Soviet Union broke up, Russia is STILL larger than Canada). We have a population of roughly 30 million people, which is approx. equal to the population of the state of California. We are not a republic, but a self-governing dominion. We are a member of the British Commonwealth and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Queen Of Canada, is our head of state, GOD SAVE THE QUEEN. Her duties are performed by Her Excellency Adrienne Clarkson, the Governor-General. We have a parliamentary system and therefore have no president, but we do have a Prime Minister. Our current prime Minister is Liberal Party Leader Paul Martin. In our country, we have 10 provinces and 3 territories. Links to the governments of each province are located directly under here.

Contrary to what many people think, Canada's capital is NOT Toronto, it is Ottawa. Toronto is the biggest city in Canada and is the capital of the province of Ontario.

We also have different spelling than what most people think. for example, words like color and neighbor are wrong. They are in fact spelled coloUr and neighboUr. As are valoUr harboUr, etc.. Maximize, minize, organize are all wrong. they are spelled maximiSe, minimiSe, organiSe, etc.. Defense and offense are defenCe and offenCe. The one thing that gets is that Americans pronounce the word lieutenant leu-tenant. It is in fact pronounced lef-tenant. Click here for a list of words commonly mispelled by Americans.
