Presenting:
The Rooms in Scott Kerlin's Home Page
- Music Room
- The first room you may want to visit is my music room, where I've collected a whole bunch of links relating to my favorite kinds of music. If you have a sound system attached to your computer, you may even want to test it out with some of my "sound bites".
- Research Library
- Now, if you're ready to spend a while getting lost amidst the many virtual bookshelves in my library, why not drop in for a while? Although I can't offer you a cup of coffee the way my favorite bookstores do, you'll still find plenty to occupy your attention. This is my most oft-visited room and is updated almost daily, so if you don't find something you're looking for now, check back again soon.
- Library Shortcut: Educational Research Room
- If you're particularly interested in education links, whether for research, practice, professional development, or just for curiosity, why not take a short cut into the educational research room where I have collected a substantial variety of links to sites for K-12 as well as postsecondary education. This collection is part of my library, but I've built this short cut for easier direct access.
- Counseling, Health, and Wellness Room
- We've all had moments when we wanted to seek advice on one or another aspect of life. If you're needing a friendly and private space to stop and reflect or to learn more about issues of health, wellness, career guidance, and personal support, my counseling, health, and wellness room may be just the place you're looking for.
- Writing Room
- Like to write? Ever wanted tips on how to write better or ways of networking with other writers? Wish you could publish something but never knew who might be interested? Then stop by my writing room and check out some of the sites I've collected there. You may also enjoy dropping in at my Writers' Corner where you will find the personal web sites of writers who've recently joined my home!
- Kitchen and Dining Room
- Feeling hungry? Curious about my favorite foods? Want to see tips for making delicious meals and snacks? Stop in at my kitchen and dining room for some special treats.
- Web Workroom
If you're looking for ways to understand websites and how they are created, you may find great benefit from an excursion into my web workroom. Here you will find not only a wide range of resources on web design and creation, but also references and tips on how to effectively utilize the Internet and the web for your own particular research and web surfing interests.
- Art Room
- If you love art but can't get to the nearest art gallery, my art room may be the perfect substitute. There is an impressive range of art gallery sites available on the web and this room has collected a number of my favorites. If you have others to recommend, please let me know.
- Science Room
- I've always been fascinated by different fields of science, both the "life sciences" (e.g. biology, botany) and "physical sciences" (geology, chemistry, physics, astronomy). The collections in my science room represent the beginnings of what I hope will continue expanding for many months to come. This room will contain both educational and theoretical resources as I continue to discover new ones.
- Play Room
- Want to just have some fun? My play room is chock-full of goodies for letting your imagination and playfulness run free. Games, humor, photography & fashion, fantasy & artistry, cyberculture, favorite places, nature, and performing arts are all a part of this room, so you'll probably want to visit whenever you need to escape from it all (er, virtually escape, that is!).
- Movie Room
- Did you know the web is loaded with sites devoted to films and movies? I decided to create a separate movie room just to gather the growing variety of resources out there for movie buffs.
- More Treats!
- If you like what you've seen so far, please come explore some more with me. There are two other members of my home and each of them has a web site devoted just to them. First is my wife Bobbi's Place, containing lots of goodies about the Internet and the Web. Bobbi and I met on the Internet in 1994, and we even have a web site devoted to our first meeting and subsequent marriage. We also do lots of research together using the Internet and Web, so be sure to ask about our joint interests.
Since 1996, Bobbi and I have been providing training and workshops to a variety of teachers, administrators, and students about ways to effectively use the Internet and World Wide Web for teaching and research. This year, we've been creating an online guide for learning more about the Internet and it's available for your to visit and utilize. The guide is entitled Teach 2000: The Educators' Guide to the Internet and World Wide Web.
The other special creature in my life also has a web site of her own. Her name is Jazz, and she's our doberman puppy. Bobbi has created an entire web site devoted to Eriador Dobermans, so if you enjoy learning more about dobermans (a truly wonderful breed), I hope you'll take a look.
Thanks for stopping in, and I sincerely hope you enjoy your visit!
