    Traditional medicine in the natural scheme of things: Traditional African medicine needs to be evaluated in the context of the cultures in which it is practised and not on the basis of a modern understanding of Western medicine, said a recent Visiting Fellow to the ANU. 
      
      
    A hyper-text version of A Modern Herbal, 1931, by Mrs. M. Grieve contains over 800 varieties of medicinal, culinary, and cosmetic herbs, including economic properties, cultivation and folk-lore. Do a word search of all 860 pages.

Among several projects, a national outcomes survey is being conducted studying the use of alternative medicine for HIV+ individuals.
