    Victoria R. Bricker, "A Phonetic Glyph for Zenith: A Reply to Closs" (394-400) [The recently discovered Tomb 12 at Río Azul contains evidence for a "zenith" reading for one of the glyph collocations Closs reads as xaman "north."]

    Clemency Chase Coggins, "Reply to: A Phonetic Version of the Maya Glyph for North" (401) [Closs's phonetic reading of North as xaman is valid, but "north" should not be separated from "up" and "zenith."]

    Michael P. Closs, "Response to Coggins and Bricker" (402-411) [The north-south axis played a more fundamental role in mesoamerican cosmologies than the zenith-nadir axis.]
