Sandi, Great info!!! I was raised in a home with domestic abuse and alcoholism and am currently obtaining my Masters' in Social Work. I am very much interested in domestic violence issues and hope to work with children of domestic violence after gradua ion. At this time I am enrolled in a class called, "Working with groups," and need to write a paper about how to set up a group. I am looking at setting up a teen education group in my local rural community of Tipton, Iowa, and was wondering if you migh have any helpful information. I have a program/session (18 week) which I found in "Alternatives to Violence: Empowering Youth to Develop Healthy Relationships" (p. 157) by David Wolfe, Christine Wekerle, and Katreena Scott and published by Sage in Thous nd Oaks, CA. The sessions cover topics such as: power in relationships, power abuses, assertiveness, date rape, gender socialization, choosing partners, sexism, media and sexism, getting to know community helpers, social action, etc. Do you know of any ther programs or information that might be useful for my program/paper? Also, are you familiar with a clothing manufacturer called Big Dogs? They have an ad which features a picture of a lady running off a porch, a man standing on the porch with his bac hand raised, and the words, "If you can't run with the Big Dogs stay on the porch." This ad was the biggest advertisement in their Williamsburg, Iowa store (approx. 6 ft. by 8 ft)!!! I started a petition and boycott and was able to get them to remove t e advertisement and any clothing featuriing the ad, as well as redraw the logo. I felt pretty good about this (and withdrew the petition and boycott) until I recently found out that the same ad, etc., is shown in their store located in the Mall of Americ !!! I will be contacting the president of the company soon. If you're interested in doing this also, his address is: Anthony J. Wall, Big Dogs Sportswear, 121 Gray Avenue, Santa Barbara, CA 93101. The ad was also featured on a sweatshirt found on thei web site: www.BIGDOGS.com - under "Talk to BIG DOGS." Thanks for all your help! Pam
