~~~ CHOLESTEROL, PART TWO ~~~
Children may have difficulty meeting their energy and nutrients on a low fat diet. Low energy intake can interfere with growth and development: nutritious, higher fat foods such as peanut butter and cheese should be taken!
~~~ WHAT LOWERS "HDL" LEVELS ~~~

Smoking, obesity, lack of excercise, steroid drugs, heart medication, high triglyceride levels, genetic predisposition to low "HDL".
"Tryglycerides" are the most common fat found in food and stored in the body.

~~~ CUTTING DOWN CHOLESTEROL ~~~
Foods high in fat tend to be high in cholesterol, and vice versa! AVOID THEM!!
Maintain body weight depending on your body frame.
Make possitive lifestyle changes - not because you are affraid of "dropping dead" but because it makes you FEEL and LOOK better.
EXCERCISE: walk, swim, dance, etc. Excercise causes a faster turnover of fat, resulting in less lipid (fat) buildup in the blood!
SUPPLEMENTS: NIACIN (vitamin B3): It short-circuits "LDL" production in the liver. VITAMIN C: the higher level of Vit. C in the blood, the higher the "HDL" level. MAGNESIUM: Helps control cholesterol
RELAX: Type "A" hostile people are at risk! Stress kills! Try meditation and/or yoga. Happiness is found within: pray, go to church, be spiritual.
Thank God for what you have instead of feeling miserable for what you don't have!
Increase your FIBER intake: Cereals, legumes, vegetables...fiber lowers blood cholesterol.
~~~~ HELPFUL FINAL NOTES ~~~~

Try these out:

AVOCADOS: the chief fat in avocados is Monounsaturated! Avocados keep "HDL" levels and lowers cholesterol.
OLIVE OIL: Has the "EFA" that lowers cholesterol. Mix it with salads or toasts.
SKIM MILK: It has Vit. D., and calcium, for strong bones, and yet saves the daily fat ration for other uses.

A study of 3,277 men and women, in England, found that "Total Cholesterol", according to diet, was as follows:

Vegan (no meat, fish, dairy) 166 mg/L
Vegetarian (eats dairy) 189 mg/L
Fish eater (no meat) 194 mg/L
Meat eater 205 mg/L

Every 1% drop in cholesterol, creates a 2% decline in coronary mortality!!
