Diabetes Question of the Week (#1)

"Is there a way to determine whether my child will develop diabetes at some point?
Yes. Children are now able to be screened for a specific gene which, if present, may mean a child is at risk for developing diabetes. Although it is not 100% accurate, it is fairly reliable. If you are interested, ask your family physician or endocrinologist about the diabetes disposition test.
