Hyperlexia and Language Disorders - Links

The links on this page should be of interest to families, teachers, and others who are involved with hyperlexic or language disordered children. Special interest has been shown toward selection of links that would relate to children age six and older, as the communication and social skills of hyperlexic children often change dramatically, and for the better, around the age of five. Many of the links below, however, are applicable of children of all ages.

Please note that I have recently expanded this links page to include links to sources recommended by other parents and by adults with hyperlexia. The links assembled on this page are not necessarily endorsed by myself.

ESL Idiom Page: Children with Hyperlexia and Language Disorders often have a great deal of difficulty understanding the usage of slang or idiomatic expressions, often mirroring the difficulty those learning English as a second language experience when faced with American slang. This site was designed for use by those learning English as a Second Language (ESL), to facilitate their understanding of these types of expressions. It contains a link to a rather extensive listing of idioms and their meanings.
