Training
Examples
of one weeks training
To
train properly one must train hard and then rest. The
rest stage is even more important than the training
stage. If a person was to train all the time and not
give the muscle cells time to heal and recuperate then
catabolism will take place. Catabolism is a metabolic
breakdown of complex molecules into simpler ones, often
resulting in a release of energy. What that means is the
effects of over-training and lack of rest could and will
result in muscle wasting due to high levels of catabolic
hormones. One such hormone is known as cortisol.
Cortisol is released during times of stress and is your
enemy. To minimize the effects of catabolic hormones you
must train effectively and then rest. In a perfect world
each of us would get eight hours of sleep each night and
perhaps a little nap after our workout. That's not the
case. Many of us are working two jobs and doing too many
other things to get a decent night's sleep. All I can
say, is for you to do your best in meeting these
obligations to your health.
Training
should be strict and short. Get in, do your job and go
home. Many people seem to think the gym is a place for
social gatherings. I disagree with that opinion. If you
are working out properly than you will have neither the
time nor the energy to put yourself in a social
situation.
The
program you see above is based on working one body part
per week. I like to start my week off with my weakest
part and finish with the strongest. Feel free to use
this information and change it to suit your needs. You
may also wish to incorporate a split routine into this
program to allow a rest during the week. I like to work
hard Monday through Friday and rest on the weekends. |
