About the Author

**********

I have always been interested in science and earned my Bachelor's degree in Biological Sciences and German Studies from Stanford University in 1995. After teaching high school for one year, I returned to Stanford to pursue graduate studies. I worked in the Genetics Department, earning a Master's degree from the interdepartmental Neurosciences Program in 1999.

I then worked at a variety of non-profit community organizations in the areas of child development and support for people with cancer.

In June, 2002, I completed my Master's degree in Genetic Counselling at the University of Toronto. Genetic counselors are health professionals who provide information and support to individuals and families who have or are at risk for genetic disease. I am currently working at the University of California San Francisco in the Cancer Risk Program.

I am interested in expanding my work in science education and am available for freelance writing projects.

I would love to hear your feedback on this website or anything related to human genetics.

Thanks!
