Playing With Words

Playing with words has always been a fun thing to do in our family. A friend asked the other day about why didn't we try making up a poem by using the last word of one line as the first word in the next line and see what happened. She still hasn't had time to sit down and work on a poem yet. I think, just maybe, that I got a bit carried away with the idea. Here is a sampling of some of my playing around with words.

Saturday is a busy day
Day of only seven more
More in which to do so much
Much ado and much more luck
Luck turns out to be bright
Bright with sun and delight
Delight in all the world around
Around each one throughout town.
Stars so bright up in the sky
Sky full of mysteries unknown
Unknown to the human eye
Eye hath seen so much on earth
Earth holds on to it own secrets
Secrets held by all the universe
Universe filled with starlight
Charlie and Oreo love to yap
Yap and yap all through the night
Night of darkness and of wind
Wind that brings rain and snow
Snow atop the mountain tops
Tops like white hair of old
Old with knowledge of Lore
Lore of times back in yore.
Television blares through the day
Day filled with nothing to do
Do watch only the big screen
Screen filled with strangers
Strangers acting, acting, acting
Acting out things so strange
Strange to many watching
Strange to many watching
One, two, buckle that shoe
Shoe of pink and white
White which suddenly turns dark
Dark with marks of play
Play inside and out
Out among the woods
Woods thick and tall
Tall enough to hide
Hide the animals serene
Serene and safe from harm.
Here we go around the town
Town holds keys to stores galore
Galore of things unimaginable
Unimaginable to many poor
Poor who hope and wish for more
