FUNCTION:          Processes and evaluates Serious Adverse Event (SAE) reports from AIDS clinical trial sites and coordinates safety assessment with NIH medical staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Performs initial processing of SAEs from sites and assists in medical assessment of each report for clinical significance and Food and Drug Administration reports.
  1. Serves as resource for clinical sites to determine the need and reporting requirements for the SAEs.
  1. Assists in preparation of operational manuals regarding SAE procedures as directed by the client.
  1. Participants in maintenance of SAE database to track reports.
  1. Reviews Informed Consents of clinical trials protocols for regulatory compliance.
  1. Participants in development of risk lists for investigational drugs in clinical trials.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a current RN license.  Must have at least four years professional experience in clinical care or a health-related position with two years experience in the development, conduct or monitoring of clinical research studies.  Experience in technical writing and regulatory affairs, with concentrations in serious adverse event reporting and development of subject informed consents desirable.  Fluency in Spanish preferred.  Moderate proficiency in Microsoft software applications.

Full-time position to provide technical assistance in health planning with project-management company. Responsibilities include: reviewing and analyzing epidemiological data, conducting multi-year needs-assessment studies, analyzing expenditure trends in various health service fields. Minimum qualifications: master’s degree in health or allied sciences. At least three years’ experience in survey methodology, data analysis, and research protocols preferred. Familiarity with statistical software, Microsoft Office and Internet research required, and with Mac computers desired.
