What is Reiki?

Reiki (ray-key) is a Japanese word for Universal Life Force and was rediscovered in the late 1800's by Dr. Makao Usui.  It accesses the life force energy to heal the self and others on a physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual level.

Reiki  augments and accelerates the healing process and can be used in conjunction with any other therapeutic modality.

It is simple to learn and is used for self healing, treating family and friends as well as animals.  During classes you receive an
attunement from a Reiki Master which passes on the ability to utilize the Reiki energy.

During a session, clients often experience relief from such ailments as arthritis, fibromyalgia, migraines, back and neck pain, etc.  Reiki treats not only the symptoms, but also the cause of illness and brings the
body, mind and spirit into balance.  Reiki energy harmonizes and adjusts according to the client's needs and is compatible with all religions and belief systems.

During a Reiki session, the client lies on a massage table fully clothed and the practitioner transmits the Reiki energy by placing his or her hands gently on the body or just above.  The client may experience heat, tingling, electrical impulses or waves of energy.  Reiki is extremely relaxing and is excellent for stress reduction, as well as for people struggling with depression.  It works on healing not only the client but also the practitioner at the same time!  After a session, a person feels a greater sense of well being and a heightened sense of clarity.

Many therapists and practitioners are utilizing Reiki in their practices with positive results.  At hospitals and clinics across America, Reiki is beginning to gain acceptance as a meaningful and cost-effective way to improve patient care.  The time has come where we are now bridging the gap between complementary and traditional medicine to give the patient the best possible care providing them with a number of options.  I encourage you to find out more about this wonderful healing technique.
