About Dr. Carroll

Return to Main Page

Dr. Carroll has been performing refractive surgery since 1995 and is pleased to offer laser vision correction for nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. Both PRK and LASIK are performed at the ClearVision Laser Center located in the Arnold Medical Building, Swedish Hospital in downtown Seattle. Surgery is generally scheduled one or two weeks in advance and should be planned around your schedule. While it is expected that patients will have blurry vision in the immediate postoperative period, you may be able to return to work in as little as two or three days. The vision in many cases will fluctuate and can take as long as a month or two to completely stabilize. This is impacted by the amount of correction and the exact procedure chosen.

Questions regarding candidacy can often be answered over the telephone. We do schedule in office screening for interested patients and can schedule a full evaluation and preoperative consultation for patients who have decided on refractive surgery. When patients come for their preoperative consultation, they will view a video regarding LASIK and PRK, they will have a refraction and dilated exam by Dr. Carroll and any questions will be answered.

On the day of surgery patients may eat a light breakfast. They will arrive at the laser center about one hour before surgery and will be have preoperative topography and pachymetry performed. After surgery, instructions for the use of medications is given and sunglasses are worn home. Patients are seen the following day in the office.

Fees for refractive surgery are $1600 per eye for all refractive errors treated. Fees are paid directly to the ClearVision laser center by cash, check, credit card or through a finance plan.
