The Yoga Studio wants to guide you on a journey to union of the body, mind and soul. Our goal is to create a safe, clean and pleasant environment for all levels of students to practice hatha yoga and to gain motivation and knowledge to improve one's total health.

The Yoga Studio is a resource center to share healthy lifestyle practices and alternatives to Western Medicine. Most importantly, this is a loving and comfortable environment to discover the connection of our physical, emotional and spiritual body.



The Class

Bikram's class is a demanding 26 pose (Asana) series. Every pose is meant to be performed in a given order, to the best of one's ability. A principle of the class is that one can learn to steadily make new demands of oneself, to work harder, deeper, yet calmer. Of equal importance is the theory that physical exertion and relaxation operate most effectively simultaneously. The control of breathing (Pranayama) and the centering of concentration accomplish this. As you advance you apply yourself ever deeper into the pose, beyond the physical discipline and into the mastery of self, by doing so we reach the true meaning of hatha yoga. "H'" -sun, "tha" -moon, "yoga" -union; a meeting of body, mind and soul.

Yoga is not an enigma. It is a science 5,000 years old. It is unrivaled as a means of improving body health and suppleness, of creating peace of mind and absence of stress. But there are no enormous promises of instant gratification. It does not magically change the world around you. The amount of effort you put into this science is returned to you. Then you begin to see, with patience and diligence, how you can, with peace, deal with this world and yourself in it.

New Students

Be prepared to work hard and sweat! Work out with an empty stomach. Bring a towel and bottled water. Wear loose fitting clothing such as leotards for women and shorts for men.

Introductory offer -- second class is FREE! (Offer expires two weeks after first class). Arrive 15 minutes early to register and advise the teacher of any chronic physical problems, recent surgeries, injuries or pregnancy.

Studio and Juice Bar

On any given day your second class is Free. (For example, take a morning class, and come back in the evening.) In order for yoga to be effective, yoga must be practiced daily or on a regular basis with no long lapses of time between lessons. A minimum commitment of 10 lessons in 30 days is recommended if the student is to derive maximum benefit from this yoga program.

Bikram Choudhury

Bikram Choudhury began studying yoga at the age of four. At 12 he was the youngest ever national yoga champion of India, holding the title three consecutive years until Bishnu Ghosh, his guru, asked him to stop competing for the sake of other participants. Bikram went on to pursue an athletic career as a marathon runner and a champion weightlifter, setting world record lifts and competing in the 1964 Olympics in Tokyo.

At age 20, a weight lifting accident severely crippled him. With the guidance of his guru, Bikram created his 26 pose series which restored his health. Quickly he established himself as a world expert teacher, opening schools throughout the East. Combining Eastern doctrine with three years of working with Western doctors and scientists at Tokyo University Hospital, Bikram perfected his comprehensive system.

The technique was tailored for the Western person - and specifically our cultural problems of job stress, overeating, bad postures and aggressive lifestyles, Bikram scientifically formulated and demonstrated yoga's ability to regenerate tissue and cure chronic ailments. Thus he became known as "The World's Most Knowledgeable Yoga Teacher." An exact technique and a series of fixed poses, the class will bring health and peace to anyone.
