The following section is about fighting for your rights as a person. From working environments to recreation to insurance, we must speak out and demand equal treatment. The following sites provide information for you, so you can stand up and fight back. Remember your silence is what allows organizations and individuals to deny insurance claims and access to amputees. Do not hesitate to write your politicians or government offices to have your voice heard.


A Guide to Disability Law

The Department of Justice has created this guide to explain the federal laws that create the rights of the disabled. This includes ADA and voting rights, civil rights, fair housing rights, etc. This is a comprehensive source for the federal laws enabling the disabled.

North Carolina's Governor's
Advocacy Council for Persons with Disabilities (GACPD)

The North Carolina's Governors Office has set up this committee to look at the issues facing the disabled in North Carolina. From removing barriers to enforcing the rights of persons with disabilities to live in a safe environment, this committee is the one to right to with specific instances of discrimination against the disabled. Further, the site links to local resources throughout the state.

The North Carolina Health Access Coalition

A project of the North Carolina Justice and Community center, this organization is a group of citizens and consumer groups fighting for healthcare in North Carolina. This includes current Medicaid issues. Includes a hand out on how to fight for a healthcare policy change in North Carolina.

Election time click on the "Candidates" option for a list of candidates. Each list includes contacts including e-mail addresses, so let them know what you are thinking.
