The International Association of Infant Massage

(IAIM)

The IAIM was born from small beginnings and has blossomed into something that is recognised in over 25 countries worldwide.

It was started by a remarkable woman, Vimala McClure, who had no idea where life was to lead her when she was first introduced to infant massage in an Indian Orphanage in 1973. Baby massage is something that is regularly practised in India by the mothers, and in the orphanage the eldest child often massaged the smaller children. By Western standards, these were disadvantaged children - they were orphans, with little of what we would regard as essentials. But due to the love that they shared with each other they were happy and loving.

When Vimala returned to the US and started a family, she massaged her baby. She saw the benefits on her own child and so decided to show others what they could do for their babies. And so, over a period of time, the IAIM was founded and has grown form strength to strength.

If you are interested in learning infant massage I would recommend you find an IAIM taught instructor, because you are guaranteed that they have had the best training available. Look for someone with CIMI (Certified Infant Massage Intructor) after their name.

And should you decide to train to teach infant massage, I know of no better course for you to attend.
