I was diagnosed with narrow angle glaucoma in July, 1998 by my optometrist. She put me in touch with an ophthalmologist. I saw him 4 days after diagnosis and that same day he tried laser surgery. Three attempts before a successful iridotomy on the right eye. First on his Argon laser in his office, second at the hospital (close by) using the Yag, and finally back to his office for the third and finally successful last attempt. My eye was sore! He then prescribed Timoptic and asked me to see him in three days. I have C.O.P.D. and Timoptic is contraindicated. I asked to see another doctor, and did so. I should tell you, at this point, that I have dark brown eyes. My new M.D. suggested conventional surgery for the left eye and I agreed! He did an iridectomy on the eye the first week in September, 1998. Successful! IOP left eye in November was 15 and the right eye was 23. Meds are Alphagan Trusopt, and Xalatan. I see him in 2 weeks and if pressure in right eye is still up, we will talk iridectomy.
