Because of my high myopia and disc cupping and IOP of 25, I was diagnosed as glaucoma suspect in 1995 and started on drops. I tried several meds - Betopic-S, Timoptic XE, Trusopt, Propine, Betagan, Iopidine, Alphagan - with various side effects or ineffectivness before hitting on Xalatan which kept my IOP at 17. Nerve damage and visual field loss progressed and my general ophthamologist sent me back to the glaucoma specialist for consideration of filtration surgery. Trabs were done in the left eye in Nov 2000 (IOP 6) and in the right eye April 2001 (IOP 8). The left eye went text-book perfect. The right eye developed a corneal abrasion during surgery from drying out too fast and then a couple of minor bleb leaks which dropped the IOP down to 1. My best corrected vision at this time is 20/40 in the right eye and 20/50 in the left eye due to astigmatism which developed from the surgery, but the glaucoma specialist thought it might improve over time.

In September 2003, I had a retinal bleed in the left eye. Boy was that scary since I'm at risk for retinal tears and retinal detachment due to my high myopia, but other than a ton of new floaters, all is well!
