My Life Story

The Basics
My life began in December 1968. I was born and raised in Southern California, and I am the youngest of three children. My brother, Paul, was first; then my sister, Sharon; and then me. I had a relatively normal childhood. I enjoyed soccer, volleyball, tennis, camping, hiking, and riding motorcycles in the desert.

After high school, I went to the University of California at Santa Barbara. During my junior year (1988), I studied at the American University in Washington, D.C. As part of my studies, I was an intern at the White House, Office of Public Liaison. I completed my studies at UCSB and graduated with a degree in Political Science in March 1990.

After college, I travelled, worked for my parents and applied to law schools. (My parents sell and service air pollution control equipment.) My first trip was to the Middle East. I signed up as a volunteer for the Israel Defense Forces, and lived on a military base in the Negev Desert for about a month. Then I wandered through Israel and Egypt for the following two months. I left the area before Operation Desert Storm began. My second trip was to Central America. I signed up for a Spanish class in Costa Rica where I studied for a month. Then I visited Panama before returning home.

At that time I had a few months before law school began. I took a temporary job teaching sixth grade students at a science school near Big Bear. Then before I knew it, I was back in Washington, D.C. studying law at the Catholic University of America.

I dragged myself through law school. Then I moved to Nashville, Tennessee where I took and passed the Bar exam. However, shortly after the exam, I met my husband , John, who was living in California. Three months after meeting each other, John and I were married and living together in Southern California.

The marriage is great, but we have had our difficulties. In March 1997, I got food poisoning and never recovered. Since that time, I have been living with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. John has been wonderful, but our lives have been changed dramatically. Our activities are very limited, and I am unable to work. I have tried many treatments and continue to be a medical experiment to this day. The best part is that we are in love and will be forever!
