Isn't "Roadsta" a beauty?

Should "Roadsta" have his top UP or down today?
Check out the Weather Channel first to find out.

The "Road Runner" put on an additional 1,750 miles on his trip to North Conway, New Hampshire where Chris & I went for some serious Mountain Climbing -- see Sports Page. The Roadsta made a few trips over the Kancamangus highway, which is a nice, curvy 52 mile mountain road (the Roadsta loves curves!) which links the Conway area (Mt. Washington area) to the Franconia Notch area. We also spent a great day in Wolfeboro, NH which is a beautiful village town on Lake Winnipesaukee, complete with kyacking and fried clams - what more can anyone ask for? The only downside to this trip was the day we were leaving, Picture of Moosewe were broadsided by a deer at the base of Mt. Chocorua - not a great experience in a Miata (or in a Cadillac?) but it would have been much worse if the top had been down or if it had been Mickey Moose vs Miata! The Roadsta has a few dents but will be just fine after a little vacation in the body shop!

You may wonder how "Roadsta" came to be -- It all started last August when my 95 Plymouth Grand Voyager (yes, a VAN) started causing me grief, a broken idler pulley one week then dropped a transmission the next week. (I'm sure those of you that have experienced transmission problems will understand, you come out of a restaurant or in my case, a grocery store, and your car doesn't believe it's time to go!) Decided it was time to downsize as children are grown, out of sports, and have cars of their own. Was out looking at very sensible, responsible cars, like Camrys, when I spotted this ever so cute, little white Miata and just HAD to test drive it - that was it, I knew I needed to give a Miata a garage of its own to call home! After test driving this white Miata (95), I saw this sleek, black 97 sitting on the lot. I sorta gravitated over to it, got behind the wheel, and the rest is history. I knew it HAD to be mine.

September 19, 1998 "Roadsta" came home and as my then 17 year old son Shawn says, I haven't stopped grinning since! I put on almost 5,000 miles in the first 9 weeks. When the weather is warm and sunny I get this overpowering urge to play hookey so I can go driving up the coastline. After living in Europe for six years and driving a BMW on the Autobahns, all I can say is that this is what prepared me for the "Ultimate Driving Machine," a Miata. The way this car handles and corners can even make mundane trips to the grocery store fun!! The speed and feel of this car are an absolute thrill beyond compare!
