Gold Implantation for Arthrosis Pain

Veterinarians have had great succes  with implantation of small goldpieces (goldimplantation) in acupunturespots around joints, in dogs with painful jointdiseases. Especially with the disease known as dysplacy of the hip.  But also in arthrosis (osteo-arthrosis) in knees- hips and arthrosis in backs (spondylosis), the method  has been used. 80 – 90% of the treated animals seems painfree.

One does not exactly know, how the gold works, but one of the theories is that the gold changes a negative, paininducing current around a joint to  a more positive current.

In Denmark, there are three doctors, who during a couple of years have done the same type of implantations on human beings. I have received tuition from one of these pioneers during the first part of this year, and this has convinced me that we are dealing with a very efficient method of threating chronic pains of the type mentioned above. The patients my danish collagues have had, are all in a group that have tried everything from steroids, anti-
inflammatory’s and operations with implanting of artificial joints. The results of the until now given treatments show that  75 – 80% of the patients get considerable reduction in pain or freedom  of pain. As of yet we are not able to say how long the effect of the treatment lasts.
In dogs, however, it seems to last for the rest of their life.

He placement of the 24 carat gold pieces, takes place uner sterile circumstances, with local anestetic where they are to be placed. The implanting takes place through a thick canula. These are removed immediately after the  implanting of the gold pieces, and the entrypoints are covered with plasters. These may be removed after one to two days. Our experience is that the improvement starts after a few days to several weeks after the implantation.

Neither the vets nor we have observed that any of the patients gets worse or are having more pains after the gold implantation.

Due to the local anestesia there will be no pains associated with the gold implantation, and as the anstesia lasts for a couple of hours, the implantation will cause no problems transporting yourself home afterwards.

To register the effect of the treatment I need you cooperation.  On a so called pain scale,  from 0 (no pain) to 10 ( worst possible pain), you cross off where you think you belong. The use of painkillers will also be registered. These observations will be noted before the implantation and as comparison telephonically one, three and twelwe month after the implantation.  I sincerely hope that you will follow up on the controls, as this means that more people  will benefit from the treatment in the future.
