Just found your 'sight'-HA. It is really beautiful and informative. I had a small blood clot 10 years ago in the retina of my right eye. It cleared up after laser, leaving me with a small distorted spot in my central vision. Now, Feb 2000, I started having more distortion/confusion and went to the same eye-doctors' group. They said it was another blood clot and, since Feb, I have had 2 laser surgerys with little/no results. Last week the doctor said the central vision is gone. He said it would be a miracle if the vision comes back,..a God's miracle. I am happy to have good vision in my left eye, but am worried that later it will happen to it too. I have just started looking at your website and will update you on my progress using your help and advise. Thanks for putting this together!

Hi Linda, great page!!! I don't have MD, I have POHS (Histoplasmosis). Yep, I came here from Blink's page. Isn't it strange how our diseases can be so different, but so much alike at the same time. When I was diagnosed 12 years ago, they gave me a boo on wet macular degeneration and sent me on my way, at that time and still today, not much is known about Histo. I'll be visiting your page, we are all in the same boat with loss of and threats of loss to our central vision. God bless you.

Hi Linda: Came across your site while researching AMD. It is AWESOME, No Kidding? Tomorrow (April 20} I go to have more pictures taken of my right eye. Had laser surgery done to it and tomorrow we will find out if it was successful. My left eye has alread had the bun, so to speak. Although I haven't given up hope. The situation could be a lot worse. Keep up the good work. Oh yes, I'm a neighbour of yours as I live in Richmond, B.C.I will be giving your page to my Dr. when I see him on Monday. Love from a 6 year young entrepeneur.Burc Tylor

I was able to work for almost 7 years and have now been on disability for alm st 5 years. In some ways it has been the best thing that could have happened to me. I have been proforming in the senior community [nursing homes, assissted living centers, senior meal sites ......] for almost 15 years now and the disability has given me he time to do this full time---------it's my thing and I really enjoy it.

Linda, you did such a great job of your web site. I, like you, hunger for knowledge when I hear of some rare or threatening disease, especially when it involves a friend. I read everything and was fascinated and sorry that I had not known more when you ere going through this horrific experience. (Maybe I would have been a little more supportive!) I'm sure your positive attitude through the whole ordeal has a lot to do with the successful results. Please keep in touch with your friends at Simons. We' l have to keep up our Week-ender nights; maybe I'll even have one in the New Year, but probably on a Sunday afternoon. Good luck in all of your new endeavours.

In 1996 I was told I have MD in one eye, & that there was nothing they could do to improve my eyesight. I am thankful my other eye does not have the same problem. I have enjoyed all the information & support about MD found on the Internet. Keep up the ood work. JL

Hi Linda, I finally took time to check out your web site. You have done an outstanding job, not only of creating your web site, but of describing your vision problems in a way that others can appreciate what it means. This is a great help to those who are only be inning to have vision problems as it gives them hope and understanding that all is not lost. There are many great doctors such as your Dr. M who will do everything within their power. Also, thank you for your input to the MD list. J. R. Dillon, O.D.

Hi Linda, your site is wonderful. I am a 43 yr old, diagnosed with myopic macular degeneration. I had my first and second leak 11 and 10 years ago, the latest just two weeks ago. The retinal specialist told me: prepare to be legally blind w/in the nex 4 mos. and there is nothing to be done. I can't accept that! I am so glad to read that you found help, thank you so much for sharing that. I am trying to decide how to proceed, and how urgent I must make my search for help. Thanks again for the great info. One question: were you ever told to avoid rough activity or jarring? I don't want to give up my livihood (training horses) but I've gotten conflicting advice. Thanks again-Suzanne

Dear Linda
I just visited your web-site. Congratulations. It is an excellent site and so helpfully informative. Well done. You really were lucky to get that surgery done so quickly and that it was so successful, and now you can encourage others and give them the benefit of your experience. Wish I had a doc like yours here in England. My MD didn't develop quite as quickly as yours, but it might have been worse if I hadn't recognised the signs as soon as I noticed a distortion of my vision, 2 & 1/2 years ago. You see, my Mum developed MD some 15 years ago and I'd gone through it all with her. At 95 she can see very little but stays cheerful and still lives on her own, though housebound and living what to me must be a deadly boring existance! I was lucky that lasering then has kept my left eye stable, but my ight went the same way last June and despite 2 lots of lasering my central vision was gone in a couple of months. Wish I could have that surgery. Again: Congratulations on your site. Glad you found the group.
Love, Pam
