My stroke occurred in my sleep 8/20/99. VBy the time they were sure it was not a bleed, it was too late to give me that new med that lessens the effects. Although I ad some difficulty swallowing and speaking, I was able to get by with mech chop 2 and wi h exercises it gradually improved. I walked with a 4 prong cane but in spite of intensive therapy have never regained any use of left hand. Recently fell and broke affected hip. Had total hip replacement and am starting all over with rehab. I admire y ur determination to learn new occupation. Many great people in Stroke Survivor group, but I was already in STROKEEFLOCK@egroups.com as well as CENTRAL PAIN GROUP@TBINET.ORG so just can`t handle more on web tv. With your thalamic pain, you might be inte ested in CP group. Best of luck to you.

Thanks to all who stop by my web page. Soon I will include another page with progress of my life. I divorced 1 1/2 years ago and I am still dealing with issues but the limbo part of my life is about over and now I can move on to a new beginning. That was the negativity I mentioned about in the first message of this guest book. I am enjoying life alot more with alot more happiness. I have my family and friends around me again, plus I have gained alot more in the last few years, and that is worth more to me than anything. It is priceless!! Thanks to all, Richard
