IHE and AKU Radiology
An observational study, on evaluating radiology department for compliance with IHE standards, has been designed and carried out in collaboration with a student of biomedical engineering. Observations were compiled and presented to higher management.

Telemedicine between Karachi and Kabul
Aga Khan University Hospital (AKUH) in Karachi and French Medical Institute for Children (FMIC) in Kabul , Afghanistan, were linked through an innovative Telemedicine link on June 20, 2007. Using modern technology and communications linkages, CT Scan and X-ray images can be diagnosed, interpreted and treatment suggested from Karachi.
   
PACS implementation in AKUH
Implemnetiong of PACS without effecting the current patient care worflows was planned and being carried out. Phase-1 has been completed with Computed Radiography (CR) installation and integrtaion with, with RIS and PACS using DICOM and HL7 standards. The project scop is now exapnded to offsite health service centers.
   
DICOM Viewer Development
A study project was carried-out with graduate students of Bahria Univeristy. The end product of this projuect was a Software- 'DICOM Viewer' developed in Matlab. The product also won 2nd prize in All Pakistan IEEE Student Software competition 2006.
   
Electronic Signature System
This system enables radiologists to view, edit and sign diagnostic reports elctronically. The workflow also incorporates user-based priviliges and authentication, resident review and report status mainatanace. Electronic signature system is an in-house developed module (of radiology information system), by team effort of IT and radiology departments.
   
Medical Image Resource Center (MIRC)
Medical Image Resource Center (MIRC) is a Radiology Teaching File Managment Systems from RSNA. Based on DICOM protocol, it provides a web-based application for tranferring images from PACS to personal file cabnet.Currenlty I am working on implemnting MIRC in Radiology departemnt AKUH.
   
Library of Images (Radiology)
Converting a Film-based Radiology Teaching Library to digital formate, which can be viewed through web based interface.
   
Digital Speech Recognition/Transcription
Implemntation of Speech recgnition system for radiology diagnostic reporting using Radiology Information system (RIS) and PACS.
   
MRI Teaching case Indexing
A non-image based searchable index, which can be used for retrieving lists of academically important MRI cases, available in Radiology Information System (RIS).

A Health information portal (Web Application)
The portal provides a common platform for health information resources for the faculty of health sciences. Users can search the required information in AKU electronic resources as well as on Internet simultaneously.I worked as analyst for developing this web application.
   
PGME Net (Intranet Project)
Postgraduate Medical Education Website
The website focuses on medical education as well as on “Up to date” news, schedules and conferences for Residents, Fellows and Interns. The website also provides user centric approach for academic presentations upload. I worked as project lead from Information Systems Dept. for coordinating and analysing the development of website.
   
 
Patient Care Inquiry System
A Clinical System (A Thin-Client System)
The system, based on thin client architecture, is an access point to patient records from Hospital Information system and other clinical systems. The system is under development. I worked for Analysis of clinician-computer interaction for smooth implementation of system hospital wide.
   
Online Formulary (Pharmacy)
A Web-based reference for Physicians
The website was designed keeping the academic importance of data in focus so that consultants, residents and interns can have reference from it during their busy schedule in wards and clinics. I worked as Analyst and coordinated with web developers and Pharmacist.
   
Web-based 3D Anatomy simulations
(Intranet Project) 3D-Simulation of human organs help to understand human anatomy in an interesting way. Eye Model is being made as a first model. Interactive animation is the unique feature of this project. Software being used: Maya, shockwave 3D and HTML.I am involved in analysis, development and coordination among faculty and technical team.

  An Imaging Application for Telemedicine
Voluntarily started application, built in VC6, puts annotations on image and saves it as separate layers in object form. The project was discontinued due to time constraints.
