Comment: I had this surgery 2 weeks ago, I was sad to read so many negative reports on this website. My experience has been very different. I am almost back to normal food, shoulder pain but nothing a panadol wouldnt fix and being a Christian sure helps. Jesus held my hand all the way through every step and I am so pleased that I decided to have the procedure done. I have quality of life back :-)
Blessings

Comment: Gene, I tried to e-mail you but yahoo responded and stated your account is over quota. I was wondering if you have any updates on your fundoplication. Do you think you could update your story? I have suffered from severe GERD for well over a year now and I am considering the fundoplication because I am only 26 years old. I respond well to very high doses of meds and I plan on getting the surgery at Mt. Sinai in NYC.

Comment: I am age 49. Had laproscopic fundoplication surgery 5/7/03. Everything went as Dr. Huntington (Boise,ID)explained before surgery. Almost 4 months later I feel fine and am doing well. Increased flactuance does result from the surgery. But, that's better than esophogeal cancer or the loss of my voice from acid damaged vocal cords. I recommend the surgery with a qualified surgeon who is experienced and honest.

I have been suffering with GERD for a year now. Like most, I have tried all kinds of remedies. I dont have a Hiatus hernia, but I have a damaged valve. I have been taking coral calcium for a month now and the improvement has been tremendous. Coral calcium is the best absorbed by the body, and is beneficial to cell regeneration and also prevents cancer. I take a combo of multivitamin + the Coral 3x a day. try it, you have nothing to lose. just a warn

I am currently going through all the pre-surgery procedures and haven't quite made a decision as to weather or not I will go through with it or not, but your site has been a great impact on me that's for sure. I'm just curious on how I can research surgeons, any clues anyone??? Wish me luck,

I felt great for about 2 weeks, and now it is back. In addition, I seem to be having small burps at night and while eating. A minor version of reflux?? It creates the same burning feeling. I am hoping this goes away. I had similar small burps in the couple weeks just after surgery. Has anyone else experien

I was diagnosed with reflux and a hiatus hernia in Nov ember 2002 and have gone for more tests which confirm no hernia and just weak esophageal valve, still feel sick all the time and nobody knows what to de with me. I dont even know if fundoplication would help, But thanks Gene for your website, I learned a lot. Will be in touch.

I,m 53 now and have had reflux for most of my life. Since people are more likely to describe bad experiences than success stories, I feel much more happy about having the operation done now. I've suffered long enough.
I only want to check up on the surgeon's skill and experience, and then go for it and try to get my life back.

Comment: I'm one year and one day post surgery and have never felt better in my life. After having eaten each time I felt that burning (thinking it was hunger, I guess), I've now lost 48 of the extra pounds I had packed on over the years. I'm fit and active and living life and loving life in longer than I can remember. Nissen fundoplication literally saved my life and my sanity. There are drawbacks, but minor compared to what I had lost...No beer. Oh well...If that's the worst thing...Thanks, Gene,

My Laproscopic procedure with Dr. Huntington was a

This was the cause of my continued problem as it
created a lot of pressure under my breatbone and
upper stomach. My Surgeons and G.I. have identified
my problems as of this past month and I believe I'm

I must admit I love to hear of the success stories
but after two Fundoplication procedures both have
failed. I am now on major meds plus can only eat a

to do more testing them possibly the Mayo clinic
but I really would appreciate any new information
for the open procedure and who may do it best once
and for all.
Thankyou .
