My Journal

Sept 11, 1997
Went for my first ultrasound since the operation. Now I just have to wait for the results.I'm not in pain so I'm assuming that everything is okay.

October 3, 1997
The ultrasound showed a 5 cm cyst on my left ovary, and fluid in my pelvic cavity. I'm furious that no one called me! I had called my ob/gyn a week ago, and she never got back to me! She wants me to get another ultrasound before my next gyn. appointment (Nov.4th). I'm not looking forward to more surgery, but it will probably be necessary.

October 26, 1997
I had the sonogram done today, the radiologist said that the 5cm cyst on my left ovary has gotten much smaller, and the fluid in my pelvic cavity has cleared up. My right ovary shows no signs of endometriosis at all. Whew! What a relief! I'll just have to see what my gynocologist says next week.

January 11, 1998
The most recent sonogram showed that the cyst on my left ovary was 4cm. Not much has changed

Janurary, 26, 1998
My gynocologist examined me today, she said she could feel the cyst and that it has gotten larger. She has reffered me to a reproductive endocronologist. Most likely I will have to have surgery again. This is getting to be a pesky cyst! Oh well, I'll have to see how my consultation goes with the specialist. I'm not in any pain, yet... but I know that as soon as I feel pain I have to get right to the emergency room b/c the cyst could twist and subsequently, rupture. Ouch!

February 1998

The cyst is the same size and the reproductive endocronologist wants to operate soon. But I want to wait until school lets out (May 5). 2 months shouldn't be so bad. I really don't have any symptoms. No pain or discomfort. I am still on the Desogen -28.

May 1998

My reproductive endocronologist has set an operation date for July 13, 1998. He plans on going in through my belly button to do a laparoscopy. But if its a real mess in there, he'll have to open me up again with a bikini incision. He is a wonderful docor though, and I trust him completely.

July 1998

Well, the operation was a success, but I did need another bikini incision. But the recovery seems to be going smoothly. I'm in better spirits this year, and at least I know what to expect this time. My doctor is starting me on a dosage of Lupron 11.25mg. each injection lasts 3 months, I will be receiving 2.

September 1998

I got my first shot of Lupron. It puts the body through menopause. I have been depressed, irritable, and the hot flashes are frequent. This medication is supposed to prevent your body from producing estrogen, thus causing some major side effects such as, vaginal dryness, and breakouts. Yuk! Well in 6 months my hormones should be back on track, I can't wait!
