Meeting called to order by President, Jeff Gonzalez at 10:15 A.M.

ROLL CALL - MEMBERS PRESENT:

MINUTES:

Donna reported. The minutes from the May 9, 2001 BOD Meeting were reviewed, corrected and approved.

COMMUNICATIONS:

Donna reported. Thank you's were received from Tina Kucera, a scholarship recipient and from Art FX, the company who produces our NSRC shirts.

TREASURERS REPORT:

Dave reported. Treasurer's report was reviewed and approved.

COMMITTEE REPORTS:

a.) Publications:
Jan reported. The deadline for the Inspiration is August 17th. It will be published in August 2001, December 2001, and March 2002. Jeff will write a Presidents Column and a Sputum Bowl Article. Jan asks everyone to look for pictures to print. She talks about potential advertisers, including St. Lukes, California College and Apria for their upcoming conference. Chris will write an article and Donna will forward the Article Reviews from the Scholarship Recipients. It will also include an updated Calendar of Events to include: RC Week, Oct. 20 - 27, COPD Awareness Month in October, and the National RC Convention the first week of December.

b.) Membership:
Jeff reported. We still need a chair for this committee. We added quite a few new members at the State Meeting. We have 416 Active members, which is right at the National Average of 33 - 34%. We need to promote at hospitals, and it will also be stressed on a National level.

c.) Legislative/Bylaws:
Jeff reported on three major issues facing us in the coming year. The Polysomnographer issue, the Paramedic issue, and Citizens for a Healthy Nebraska. Jeff also discussed a National Issue of Prospective Payment for RC.

d.) Public Relations:
Darcy sent a report. Apria has a conference coming up on Oct. 25th, and Immanuel on Sept. 27th. Anyone interested in helping with the booths should contact her.

e.) Web Page/Video Program:
Bruce reported. There have been over 1000 hits on the Web Site. Bruce received several State Meeting Applications on the Web also.

f.) Nominations:
Mike reported. He has some verbal commitments for officers. Nominations will close Oct. 31st. He will have a ballot ready for BOD approval at the Nov. Meeting.

g.) Program/Education:
Chris reported. Chris presented the proposals she has received for State Meeting sites for 2002. After discussion, she is given authority to lock in dates and choose the site. Comments from the 2001 Meeting are reviewed. Chris would welcome any ideas for speakers. Jane will check into a one day meeting near Omaha.

DELEGATE REPORT:
Tom reported. Tom and Marcy will both go to San Antonio.

OLD BUSINESS:

a.) Citizens for a Healthy Nebraska: There will be a Sept. Meeting to evaluate the Survey.

b.) PACT:
Jeff and Frank reported. Frank and Jeff went to Dallas in June. They report that we have achieved many of the goals set forth, but we still have a lot of work to do.

c.) Lobbyist:
Jeff reported. We did not complete everything we needed to during the last session. He will consult with Marcy and decide what we need to do regarding a Lobbyist during the upcoming session.

d.) Summit Award:
Jeff reported. He reviewed the process for collecting and submitting the information for the award. Frank volunteered to be responsible for this.

NEW BUSINESS:

a.) Past President Resignation:
Shane has moved out of state and his resignation was accepted by Jeff. He sent best wishes to the BOD.

b.) Credentials for Delegates:
Jeff has completed the form and after signatures, it will be sent in.

c.) ZOO Health Fair:
96 KX Radio Station is sponsoring a Health Fair at the Lincoln Children's Zoo again this year. Jeff has student volunteers lined up to do Peak Flows and talk about Smoking, etc.

d.) COPD Month:
Oct. is National COPD Month.

e.) RC Week:
Oct. 20 -27 is National RC Week. We are reminded to get any info on activities to Frank for the Summit Award.

f.) Other:
Jeff and Jane report on the International Fellow. The fellows name is Kook-Hyun Lee and he will be here from Nov. 25th - 29th. Discussion on his agenda followed. Tentative date for banquet is Nov. 29th. All BOD members are encouraged to attend. NSRC will pay registration for Jane to attend the National Convention with Dr. Lee.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:15 PM.
