As every animal lover knows, talking
to animals and communicating is very important in your relationship. Although
most (no...make that all) people think I'm a little (no....a lot) strange,
but my pets love me for it! First of all, why should we all expect them
to understand our language if we don't take the time and effort to understand
and try to talk to them in their's and using their body language. I have
been quite successful through trial and error, at learning how to mimic
their sounds and making body gestures the same as they do. It's fun and
exciting learning how to communicate with your pet on their level. Each
animal has a different voice. The pitch and sound is unquie. You will have
to learn to move and vibrate your tongue in a totally different manner
than how you do speaking 'human'. Like what the bird watchers do when they
are calling a particular breed of bird, or a moose caller. I get down on
all fours on the floor with my BunnyDog. Then I shake my rear end same
as she does. That's my body movement of wagging my tail which both her
and I know I don't have... but still she knows my meaning of it. Specially
when I let my tongue hang out and smile same as her. So she starts to do
little hops? lounges? Yeah.. well me too! Then comes the happy playful
bark. She loves it when I bark (her way) back at her. She's 15 to 16 years
now and we've played like this all these years. We end up rolling on the
floor together, then she licks me to death and it's like our play time
was a great sucess for both of us. The cats are GREAT! All three have different
meows, but not one of them says meow. BrandyCat is the nuzzlier and the
loudest purrer. Well, I nuzzle right back to his/her face and body and
purr right back. I have to admit I'm
pretty good and have even made
friends with strange cats with my
purring. Course you have to keep
your head continually moving because you know how cats lift them selves
up and walk back and forth. Well I do it with my face and head the same
way. I can call all three of my cats in their own private language and
always the right one will answer and come to see me. Now remember, since
I've attempted to communicate on their level, I have Roxbro try to talk
to me in mine. He's attempted to say Mom! Told you he was a sweetie! It
comes out more Mrommmm...but I KNOW he's trying to say mom. Also he says
mraa mraa for mama. Petu tries to say Danielle (my daughter's name) It
comes out more Pennowl, but he looks at or for her when he calls. For his
own name Petu, he says PaRoo. Pretty close don't you think??? Spanky? Well
Spanky is still a pup so he
just picks up his ears then lunges
to me when I yip and wimper, but
he'll learn soon enough. I have
whistling games with the birds and
please note right now I CAN NOT
WHISTLE! But the birds give me credit for trying and specially Chico. He
is such a good whistler if he wants to be yet he doesn't mind my airy attempts
of whistling and will continue in our game. This is just a tip of the fun
we have together, me and my animal buds...but try it! You'll be amazed
at how much closer you and your pet will become just by talking.
