Epilepsy in young Children

Welcome to my homepage. I started creating this page in May '96. The reason for creating this homepage is our daughter Kinsey, who was diagnosed with Epilepsy when she was not yet 4 months old. Since that time, I have found a lot of support from many people all over the world, but in exploring the Internet, I found that there was very limited information available specifically for parents of (young) children who are diagnosed with Epilepsy. This page is my effort to help other parents who are faced with similar problems.

If you are new to the world of seizures and epilepsy, please start by reading this first time information. It's a collection of information that might help you if you have never dealt with seizures, epilepsy, specific procedures and so on.

Every child that is reported to me gets a single page of their own. That page list details about that child, their diagnosis, other health related problems, their treatments (medication, surgery and alternative treatments) and personal comments. All of that information is provided to me by the parents or, for some of the older children, by the children themselves. There is also an email address provided where you can get in touch with the parents.
Warning: Most cases of epilepsy/seizures are of a mild nature, it's often not recognized or it's considered day-dreaming for a long time. The stories of the children you find here are in general a bit more severe. Please keep that in mind while reading.
When I started with this homepage, I only had 3 children on the list. Four months after starting this page, the number of children had expanded to 49 and within a year after starting this, the number of children is over 150.

Due to the high number of children, I had to create new ways to find stories that might be of specific interest to you. So there are now 3 different ways you can find stories. Of course you can see all the stories by going to the list of children, the children are ordered by their age. You can also start at the list of diagnoses. That list containts all reported diagnoses. From there, you can select one diagnosis and see only children with that diagnosis. Possible information or links to other sites for a specific diagnosis can be found there as well. And finally, you can start on the list of treatments. This last list is a list of treatments reported in one or more of the stories. From there, you can find the stories of the children who have experience with that treatment as well as links to other sites about that treatment.

If you are willing to add your child's story to these pages, please do so by supplying me with all the information. After I receive all the required information, I will add your child's information to the list of children and let you know as soon as it is available.

Besides all this info, I also have a page with additional links related to Epilepsy.

Finally, I collected some info about my own family in my personal page, together with some disclaimer info. If you have any suggestions, ideas or contributions, please email me.

This page was visited times since 5/27/96. Thanks for visiting.
