The Multiple Chemical Sensitivities Primer or MCS For Beginners

Where to start looking for information about MCS

This site is designed for people who have recently figured out that they have multiple chemical sensitivities (MCS) and need some guidance on finding resources to help them cope with the syndrome. Having had MCS for over seven years and having to find the vast majority of this information on my own, I thought I would try to help the MCS community and provide a "springboard" for folks who are just now figuring out they have MCS. One of the ironies of MCS is that by the time you figure out what the problem is, you've already found most of this information. I got lucky and stumbled across the keywords "chemical sensitive" on the Infotrac system while doing a computer search at my local library one evening. Once I found that magic combination of words, information poured out of the computer. Doctors often try to explain our illness as a manifestation of something that we have read about; I have yet to meet a person who read about this and then got sick--it has always been the reverse. I believe the word, "Eureka!" gets said a lot when someone affected with MCS finds that first bit of information!

I do not know of any place to find safe housing! I'm sorry, but I can't help anyone with this issue. The used to be a website that dealt with this problem, but it's no longer working. I TRULY wish I could help everyone with this, as is seems to be the most common topic of discussion. All I can suggest is that you try using Google.com or Dogpile.com. You have NO idea how much I wish I could assist people with this problem, and it IS a problem.

Due to spammers looking at new and old postings for email addresses, I had to take down the guestbooks. If you have a question, please send me an email and I'll try to answer your question.
