I need everyone to please make copies and give them to your church members and have them sign it and either mail it or e-mail mail. It will be better mailed or collected and sent together. We are collecting them here in Washington DC and will hand deliver them to the White House. If each one of us can get around 200-300 signature from every church, we will make a large number. If you want to mail all your church letters to me, I will include them with what we have so far, however, you can just mail them directly. Please pass it around to all you know. We are all sending the same letter. Let us keep the pressure on. Congress will be back soon and we will need more signatures to ask for a hearing on Al-Kosheh in the congress. Thanks! The New Year Massacre of Christians in Egypt Between December 31, 1999 and January 3, 2000 a wave of hatred toward Christians exploded in a shooting spree in the village of El-Kosheh and nearby villages in Upper Egypt that resulted in the deaths of unarmed, peaceful Christians. Egyptian Muslims killed more than twenty Christians and left more than thirty-six gravely wounded. The Muslims continued their barbaric rampage by burning down a Coptic Church, looting Christian stores, and setting ablaze many Christian homes and businesses. These violent actions were the bloodiest by Muslims against Christians in recent years. As bad as they were, however, they were not new to El-Kosheh. In 1998, Egyptian police arrested over one thousand two hundred Copts from El-Kosheh and subjected them to torture in order to extract confessions to crimes they didn't commit. The officers who were responsible for the police brutality were not charged, some incredibly were promoted. Christian Copts believe that in the one and a half years since the infamous police brutality in El-Kosheh, history is repeating itself. Because the Egyptian government was not keen in protecting the lives of Christians, primarily against abuses committed by its own security forces, they fostered a climate in which abuses to Christians were allowed to escalate. Despite full and complete knowledge of these multiple acts of brutality, the Egyptian Government has taken no action against the local appointed governor and the head of police to prevent such massacres. If the Egyptian Government does not want to appear fully compliant in the events at El-Kosheh, it should take immediate steps to control these brutalities. The Egyptian Government should bring these government officials to justice as well as those who continue to conspire against the Christian population. Also, the Government should cease to direct fanatic religious teaching through government owned media. They should adopt a clear policy of tolerance, and cease to promote fundamentalist teaching in all schools that describe Christians as infidels. As has been proven, this state-subscribed rhetoric is highly inflammatory and encourages attacks against Christians. Christian Copts throughout the world ask the U.S. Government and its freedom-loving people to stand with us in El-Kosheh, and all over Egypt. We must work to defend their right to live in security, equality and dignity. Hi There You guys are doing a splendid job. We in South Africa are still coming to terms with gross violation health and human rights,especially by some of the Medical/Health Workers as presented by the Truth & Reconciliation Commission (TRC)in South Africa. The South African, Biko Case of torture and death in detention as well as the Medical/Health personnel involvement & complicity leading to his death, has now become a standard test case of medical complicity in violation of health & human rights qoiuted w rtldwide! However, its difficult to believe that victims of the Nazi Holocaust, have now superceded their Nazi perpetraters (of an era long by), with torture (the only country in the world, that has legalised it) and gross violations of health & human rights of the Palestinians. A case of History repeating itself? The question is: 'What is the Israeli Medical Asso iation (a member of the World Medical Health body), doing?
