THE ANCIENT CONSTELLATIONS

THE 22 STARS OF THE ANCIENT ZODIAC

Most of us will no doubt be very familiar with the signs of the zodiac, from the "traditional" zodiac; our Sun Signs, or where the Sun was positioned on our birthday. However, there is in fact another "zodiac" that goes back much further into the past, a zodiac which the earliest astrologist looked upon; the celestial sphere - the star constellations themselves.

These star constellations were represented by Gods and Myth, and the stars could easily be viewed and observed from Earth. It was the Ancient Greeks who gave a character to the constellations, which also play an important role in our destiny, along with the zodiac path of the planets that we are more familiar with.

The main difference between the two Zodiac is that with the traditional zodiac, the dates now no longer fit with the star positions from which they took their names from, and, it is much harder to locate the zodiac in the sky. However, with the Ancient Zodiac relating to the constellations, the stars can easily be located, and the signs do relate to the position of the stars.

To locate your star, it is best to try to view your constellation about 6 months from your actual birthday. This is because on your actual birthday, your star is too near to the Sun, so it can not be seen.

The Great Astronomer Ptolemy changed the zodiac into spring and autumn equinoxes, which were moving equinoxes. Ptolemy simplified Astrology, and the ancient constellations were dropped from the new system, which is mainly concerned with the planetary influences, and not the stars themselves.

The lost, Ancient Zodiac brings back the ancient system, and gives Astrology another dimension, and could be seen to be bringing back the true meaning of the word "astrology" being the study of stars and celestial bodies. The Ancient Zodiac can compliment the traditional zodiac, and can at least provide us with more influences, and a deeper insight.
