THE EMBLEM OF THE ACADEMY OF FAMILY PHYSICIANS

The shield is of red arose the top and purple at the bottom with a central band in gold.  In the central band are 3 stylised hibiscus flowers in red.  Across the top of the shield is a representation of the family in gold and at the bottom of the shield is an open book in gold.

And for the rest on a wreath silver, red and purple is a Malaysian tiger standing on its hind legs striped and in gold, holding a Staff of Aesculapius in natural colours.
 



OBJECTIVES

The objectives of the Academy of Family Physicians are as follows:

1.  To advance the Art and Science of Medicine for the general benefit of mankind, irrespective of race, creed or religion.
2.  To arrange meetings, seminars, symposia and conferences to discuss medical and scientific problems/challenges.
3.  To provide courses for medical practitioners in Family Medicine and related subjects which are cognate and consistent with the Education Act or any other relevant statutes in force.
4.  To promote and maintain high standards of medical practice.
5.  To encourage and assist research into medical, scientific and allied subjects.
6.  To provide, endow or support scholarships, lectureships, readerships, and professorships
7.  To publish journals, newsletters, books and other publications with such approvals as required by law.
8.  To give, grant, issue or bestow on medical practitioners certificates and other tokens and distinction in recognition of proficiency or attainment in family medicine practice and subjects that are cognate and any such tokens or distinctions may be awarded upon an assessment examination or thesis or honours cause; provided that no diploma or degree shall be awarded by the Academy.
9.  To enter into affiliation with institutions of higher learning, academies, organisations and bodies subscribing to similar objects.
