I was born a poor, young white
child...with, as you can see, black feet. I grew out of
them, though they always remained quite petite and
dainty. Always smelled like rose petals, too.
I was born on D-Day, that is, the 3rd
anniversary of D-Day, June 6, 1947. I just know my mother
planned it that way. You see, Phil (as everyone called
her) had been a WAC (that's Women's Army Corps for you
youngin') during WWII (that's World War II for you
youngin') and was very patriotic. Dad too. They'd met in
the army at Fort Miles Standish in Massachusetts and
fought the Battle of New England. Anyway, I just know
Phil had a C-Section because she didn't want to labor all
through D-Day and have my birthday end up being on June
7. Bummer! (My word, not hers. Believe me!)
