providing networking opportunities through teleconference calls, committee meetings and our annual Breakfast Meeting publishing a newsletter three times yearly with opportunities for members to share ideas and concerns, as well as keep informed of current issues in maternal-infant nursing participating in task forces on relevant political matters providing input into RNAO policies and activities regarding issues of health, nursing and the childbearing family facilitating communication between nurses working in hospitals and community settings making available bursaries and scholarships to its members
"Who would have ever thought that when I attended my first CNIG Breakfast Meeting four years ago that I would become the new vice-chair for the Interest Group? Certainly not me (nor my husband!). Seriously, it has truly been a wonderful experience. It has been so rewarding to have the opportunity to make new friends with so many registered nurses with similar interests to myself. I have had the opportunity to become involved in many endeavours, including: conference planning; chairing province-wide conference calls; developing a new group logo; and redesigning the executive structure. Becoming familiar with the workings of our professional association at a provincial level and having some input into policy changes has been instrumental to my learning. These are just some of the possibilities that are out there for us all to really become involved in our profession.
