On behalf of the Organising Committee, I would like to welcome you to the  International Symposium on Endometriosis to be held in Spain. The city of Barcelona has a variety of attractions both for leisure and culture, and is a Mediterranean city of great interest to celebrate meetings of this type.

Endometriosis has become a major gynaecological process over the last 25 years, with over 4,500 publications on this topic. However, in spite of this, this disease is disconcerting and puzzling, and about which we have little knowledge.

In the mid-seventies, the general use of the laparoscopy in those patients suffering from sterility and pelvic pain, enabled endometriosis to be diagnosed as a disease common to both groups and at all ages. However, with the appearance of the videolaparoscopy in the last decade and the incorporation of new materials which allow accurate images, endometriosis has reached a new dimension, with the possibility of performing the diagnosis and therapeutic strategy in one operation. The appearance of minimally invasive surgery and conservative reinforces the advantages of laparoscopy.

The fundamental aim of this Symposium is to unify criteria by exchanging information and experience of both speakers and attendants.

We are sure  that you will find the programme interesting and that this will be  an exceptional opportunity to share new horizons with outstanding speakers.

See you in Barcelona!
