Dear Mayor [XXXX],

On behalf of the [XXXX] Blood Center and the National Platelet Association, I would like to request that you proclaim September 20th through the 26th as “Platelet Donor Recruitment Week” in Anytown. Below is a suggested wording for such a proclamation.

WHEREAS, The City of Anytown proudly joins the National Platelet Association in celebrating September 20th through the 26th as “Platelet Donor Recruitment Week”; and

WHEREAS, The general public should be made aware of the unique need for volunteer platelet donors; and

WHEREAS, The need for platelets transcends social, racial and age and economic boundaries; and

WHEREAS, The City of [XXXX] is home to [XXXX] Hospital (or Cancer Treatment Center.

NOW, THEREFORE, I, [XXX XXXX] MAYOR OF THE CITY OF ANYTOWN, Do hereby proclaim September 20th through the 26th as PLATELET DONOR RECRUITMENT WEEK in Anytown, and do commend this observance to all our citizens.

If a brief presentation ceremony could be scheduled by your office, at a convenient time and place, it would be greatly appreciated and would help advance our life-saving cause of assuring adequate supply of donor platelets to patients who need them.
