WITH AGE COMES WISDOM

I never thought I would enjoy the prospect of getting older, but I find with each passing day an inner strength and a profound understanding of life that can only come as a result of aging.
So many things in life take on a different significance and meaning and you learn to pick and chose what is important based on past history and future hopes. I finally understand what is meant by with age comes wisdom. You wake up and find yourself with this vast body of knowledge, which is based purely on living life. It can be used as a point of reference to guide you through the decision making process or it can be relegated to being unimportant, either way the body of knowledge gained through aging and living life is always there in reserve. I stumbled across this wonderful birthday card today, it is produced by Gibson Greetings, Inc. and it utilizes excerpts from the book Chicken Soup for the Soul. These verses seemed to sum up the wisdom of aging well:

IF I HAD MY LIFE TO LIVE OVER

I'd dare to make more mistakes…..

I'd be sillier, take fewer things seriously….

I'd take more chances, take more trips, climb more mountains, swim more rivers….

I'd eat more ice cream and less beans…

I'd have perhaps, more actual troubles and fewer imaginary ones.

Yes, if I had my life to live over, I would start barefoot earlier in the spring and stay that way later in the fall.

I would go to more dances, ride more merry-go-rounds and pick more daisies…by Nadine Stair (Age 85) (adapted)

Such a profound understanding of life and the relevance of seizing the day only comes through aging, so look forward to the passage of time and the wisdom it brings……………………Fujicat
