Introduction to Reflextherapy

Reflextherapy is a development of an art which has been practiced throughout ancient civilizations. The therapy has been increasingly developed and used in many countries throughout the world.

This gentle manual technique is used primarily on the feet but may be applied to other parts of the body, such as the hands or back. The initial assessment and investigation is by subtle finger pressure and seeks to detect trigger points of hypo- or hyper-sensitivity which mirror the imbalance or trauma elsewhere in the body.

Any disorder, tension or congestion in the body, whether from mechanical, viral, environmental, dietary or mental origin, is accurately reflected into these micro organ points. Their treatment often improves not only the symptom but also the associated deeper underlying causes which may be unsuspected by the patient.

Treatment aims to stimulate the inherent self healing powers and to regulate any imbalances which have been detected.

Reflextherapy is useful and effective in the treatment of pain; and is used in the treatment of acute and chronic conditions, such as: musculo-skeletal disorders, respiratory, digestive, neurological and stress-related disorders.

Other conditions such as glandular fever, insomnia, migraine, and menstrual disorders can also be successfully treated.
How the hands and feet mirror the body.
As with all therapies, there are some contra-indications and precautions. Each patient is individually assessed for their suitability to this approach. Therefore it is essential to choose a competent practicioner.
